Fault Tolerance

Dyband is capable of providing a high level of fault tolerance through the use of a pair of redundant Shapers. The fail-over mechanism between redundant Shapers ensures that traffic will continue to be shaped and that the archiving of performance statistics will continue. The standby Shaper's sole function is to take over if failure is detected along the path through the active Shaper. If failure is detected, fail-over is automatic; the standby Shaper becomes the active Shaper, and the original active Shaper becomes the standby.
