In addition to the normal and congested rate limits used by Shaper, there are
a number of other parameters that control how Shaper manages each MP. The set
of all the parameters is referred to as a policy. From CMon, policies can be
created, assigned names, and applied to one or more Management Points (MPs).
Policies are grouped into profiles for easy assignment to a number of related
MPs.
The policies / profiles created in CMon are local to each Shaper. Global policies
and profiles, available to multiple Shapers, can be created and distributed
from ProfilePush.
An MP that is not specifically assigned a policy inherits its policy from its
nearest ancestor that contains a policy of the appropriate type in its Inheritance
Profile.
