Dyband Delivers New 2100 IP Traffic
Manager
Supports OC-3 Speeds and Multiprocessing
OTTAWA, ONTARIO, CANADA (September 17, 2002)-Dyband,
a supplier of IP traffic management solutions to service providers
and enterprises worldwide, today announced the availability
of its newest intelligent IP traffic management solution-the
Dyband 2100 IPTM. The 2100 IPTM is designed to support service
providers and enterprise organizations with larger, more complex
access networks via greater throughput, improved scalability,
fault tolerance, and flexible, dynamic network configuration.
The 2100 also provides greater choice of OS platforms, processor
support, and data storage applications.
THE DYBAND SOLUTION
Dyband's 2100 IPTM intelligent traffic management
solution enables access providers to control bandwidth consumption,
by IP address, for up to 50,000 managed points-individual
subscribers, groups, subnets, and/or gateways. Multiple allocation
schemes (guaranteed, preferred, equitable, etc.) distribute
available bandwidth across all managed points during both
normal and congested conditions. By evaluating the bandwidth
capacity/demand ratio 100 times per second, Dyband can dynamically
shape individual and aggregate bandwidth usage based on traffic
conditions, minimizing network congestion, reducing packet
loss, and optimizing Internet backbone utilization. The 2100
also allows access providers to define and manage a virtually
unlimited number of SLAs at distinct price points. And, it
enables new visibility into bandwidth consumption, allowing
operators to make real-time usage decisions, and gather comprehensive
historical statistics for later analysis.
2100 NEW FEATURES AT-A-GLANCE
| Greater Throughput |
Dyband 2100 IPTM supports traffic throughput
of up to OC-3 speed (155 Mbps) with the use of Gigabit
Ethernet interfaces.
|
| Multiprocessor Support |
In order to facilitate higher throughput
and accommodate alternate hardware upgrade paths, the
2100 can be installed on multiprocessor, as well as
single-processor, systems.
|
| Flexible Network Configuration |
The 2100 supports flexible network
configuration, managing traffic on half duplex and multi-homed
networks.
|
| Updated OS Selections |
The 2100 runs on both Red Hat Linux
(7.1) and MS Windows (NT and 2000).
|
| Improved Scalability |
The Dyband 2100 IPTM provides deeper
packet queues and more efficient management of topologies
containing large numbers of managed network points(individuals
subscribers, groups, subnets, and gateways). This significantly
improves response times for traffic shaping and configuration
transactions.
|
| Expanded Database Options |
The Dyband 2100 gives operators the
option of archiving their performance statistics in
an Oracle as well as an MS SQL database. Performance
statistics are used for capacity analysis, "just-in-time"
bandwidth provisioning, usage-based billing and customer/technical
support.
|
| Dynamic Autodiscovery |
The 2100 now supports the autodiscovery
of managed network points via RADIUS in addition to
DHCP lease or IP address.
|
| Centralized Configuration |
The 2100 allows user profiles and service
tier settings to be centrally managed and "pushed"
to an unlimited number of Dyband units in a large distributed
network.
|
| Fault Tolerance |
Through a "hot" stand-by
system, the 2100 guarantees continuous traffic shaping
and statistical recording even in the face of a Dyband
hardware/software failure.
|
| Greater SNMP Support |
The 2100's SNMP support has been expanded
to included Linux as well as MS Windows platforms.
|
"Dyband's low-latency traffic shaping algorithm doesn't
suffer performance degradation in the face of network congestion
or high traffic load," said Walter Capitani, head of
Software Engineering at Dyband. "The 2100 IPTM's superior
performance, fault tolerance and SNMP support deliver the
effective, reliable bandwidth management needed for high-speed
distributed access networks."
"The Dyband 2100 IPTM solution offers
the expanded capabilities that technically savvy access providers
are looking for in a pragmatic traffic management solution,"
said Michael Howard, principal analyst and co-founder of Infonetics
Research. "The 2100's added functionality can help providers
gain greater control of their bandwidth and, as a result,
improvement to their bottom line."
DYBAND AVAILABILITY
Dyband 2100 IPTM software, which is available
today, is easy to install and runs on industry-standard hardware
platforms and operating systems. The software is available
in a broad range of configurations that scale to meet the
needs of service providers and enterprise organizations as
they grow-from 1 Mbps to 155 Mbps of managed bandwidth
per Dyband unit. Prices for the 2100 IPTM start at $500 USD
and are dependent on the aggregate amount of bandwidth managed
by the Dyband solution.
