This page provides installation instructions for a sample Shaper configuration for Dyband 2.0 for the Windows platform and Red Hat Linux 7.1. The sample configuration includes both sample Profiles and default Management Points. For a detailed description of the sample Profiles, refer to Starting up Dyband using Sample Profiles (PDF 87 Kb).

The foregoing information concerning Dyband sample profiles (the "Information") is provided here for convenience and informational purposes only. Due to the fact that each user's network is unique and because Dyband does not have access nor insight into the specific objectives and/or goals in the traffic management of each user's network, Dyband provides no warranties or representations in respect of the Information, including warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. Therefore, use of the Information by user in any manner whatsoever, is at users own risk and liability.

Installing Sample Configuration

  1. Backup your current Shaper configuration using Dyband CMon (see Dyband User Guide, Section 4.3, "Managing the Shaper Configuration File"). Name the backup file Pre_Samples.shp; DO NOT use the default backup file name.

  2. Download and run the self-extracting file DybandSampleProfiles.exe (257 Kb).
    - Select your Licensed Bandwidth when prompted. WARNING: the bandwidth level selected must match your current Dyband Shaper license.
    - The default destination folder is c:\Dyband\Samples, you may choose to alter this destination by clicking on the Browse button.

  3. Stop Dyband Shaper, as follows:
    - on Windows NT: Start | Settings | Control Panel | Services
    - on Windows 2000: Start | Settings | Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services
    - on Linux: Enter stop_shaper

  4. Copy running.shp from the Dyband samples folder, created in Step 2 (default C:\Dyband\Samples), onto a floppy.

  5. Copy running.shp from the floppy to the appropriate location on the Shaper system (\Winnt\system32 on a Windows platform; /usr/local/bin/shaper on a Linux platform). DO NOT overwrite your current running.shp if it has not been backed up (see Step 1).

  6. Restart Dyband Shaper.

Restoring Original Configuration

  1. Stop Dyband Shaper (see Step 3 above).

  2. Rename the backup file Pre_Samples.shp to running.shp, and copy it to \Winnt\system32 (Windows platform) or /usr/local/bin/shaper (Linux platform).

  3. Restart Dyband Shaper.
