This page provides installation instructions
for a sample Shaper configuration for Dyband 2.0 for the Windows
platform and Red Hat Linux 7.1. The sample configuration includes
both sample Profiles and default Management Points. For a
detailed description of the sample Profiles, refer to Starting
up Dyband using Sample Profiles (PDF

foregoing information concerning Dyband sample profiles
(the "Information") is provided here for convenience
and informational purposes only. Due to the fact that each
user's network is unique and because Dyband does not have
access nor insight into the specific objectives and/or goals
in the traffic management of each user's network, Dyband

Installing Sample Configuration

Backup your current Shaper configuration
using Dyband CMon (see Dyband User Guide, Section 4.3,
"Managing the Shaper Configuration File"). Name
the backup file Pre_Samples.shp;
DO NOT use the default backup file name.

Download and run the self-extracting
file DybandSampleProfiles.exe
(257 Kb).
- Select your Licensed Bandwidth when prompted. WARNING:
the bandwidth level selected must match your current Dyband
Shaper license.
- The default destination folder is c:\Dyband\Samples,
you may choose to alter this destination by clicking on
the Browse button.

Stop Dyband Shaper, as follows:
- on Windows NT: Start | Settings | Control Panel | Services
- on Windows 2000: Start | Settings | Control Panel |
Administrative Tools | Services
- on Linux: Enter stop_shaper

Copy running.shp
from the Dyband samples folder, created in Step 2 (default
C:\Dyband\Samples), onto a floppy.

Copy running.shp
from the floppy to the appropriate location on the Shaper
system (\Winnt\system32 on a Windows platform; /usr/local/bin/shaper
on a Linux platform). DO NOT overwrite your current running.shp
if it has not been backed up (see Step 1).

Restart Dyband Shaper.
Restoring Original Configuration

Stop Dyband Shaper (see Step 3 above).

Rename the backup file Pre_Samples.shp
to running.shp,
and copy it to \Winnt\system32 (Windows platform) or /usr/local/bin/shaper
(Linux platform).

Restart Dyband Shaper.
